AI-Native Software Engineering

Designed and led a GenAI-enabled engineering operating model covering specification, coding, testing, and validation.

01

Context

The mandate was not to distribute coding assistants. It was to redesign the engineering lifecycle as a complete operating system—connecting product intent, reusable specifications, code generation, testing, validation, governance, and adoption.

02

Why the problem was difficult

Local productivity gains can disappear at handoffs. Faster code creates little value when specifications remain ambiguous, reviews become a bottleneck, validation is weak, or teams lack a consistent way to measure adoption and quality.

03

Approach

  • Mapped the end-to-end engineering workflow and its constraints
  • Redesigned specification, coding, testing, and validation practices as one system
  • Created reusable practices and governance for repeatable delivery
  • Established adoption and productivity measurement around the new operating model

Key lesson

Engineering transformation comes from redesigning the flow of work. Tools matter, but operating discipline determines whether isolated speed becomes sustained throughput.
